About Us
Ledyard Youth Football program is open to children ages 5 through 14, in grades K-8, who reside in Ledyard,Gales Ferry, Mashantucket,Preston & North Stonington. Our League has a long-standing tradition of pride and excellence. It is our mission to provide the youth in our community with the opportunities to learn the skills needed to compete on and off the field in a safe, positive environment. We encourage the development of self-confidence, work ethic and team work. Ledyard Colonels are proud to be a member of the Southern New England Youth Football Conference (SNEYFC).

Ledyard Youth Football would like to honor the memory and lasting legacy of Wendall “Smitty” Corey Smith, a man who gave so much to our football family and community. Smitty dedicated countless years to LYF—coaching our young athletes, helping build the bleachers that still stand at our field, and becoming a familiar voice on game days as our longtime announcer. Following his passing, Smitty’s family generously made a donation to Ledyard Youth Football in his honor, continuing his tradition of giving back to the program he cared so deeply about. We are incredibly proud to permanently dedicate our press box as “Coach Smitty’s Press Box,” ensuring that his name and contributions will remain a part of LYF for generations to come. A special thank you to FASTSIGNS for generously donating the beautiful sign that now hangs on the press box. Smitty’s voice may no longer echo across the field, but his legacy always will. 💙💛🏈Thank you again to Paige, Dallas, Keyshia and Autumn for the generous donation in his name, and sharing his memory with us once again.
